Departing from M’Hamid, your trek covers roughly 10 hours of walking across two days, moving through palm groves, open dunes, and remote desert corridors that few travellers ever reach. Camels carry your bags the entire way.
Day 1 — Into the Dunes: Ras Nekhale to Douibe
Your Trek 2 Days Desert Mhamid begins at 9 AM with departure from M’Hamid on foot, accompanied by your guide, camel driver, and camel team. The morning route leads you through the palm grove of Ras Nekhale, where you stop for a relaxed lunch in the shade before the real desert opens up ahead.
After lunch, the terrain shifts to a crossing of small, sculpted dunes as you make your way toward Douibe — your camp for the night. As the sun drops and the light turns golden, the silence of the Sahara settles in. The evening brings a warm welcome at camp with dinner, traditional music around the fire, stories from your guide, and a sky that stretches from one horizon to the other.
Day 2 — Return Through Lebour: Douibe to M’Hamid
The second morning of your desert trek from Mhamid begins in silence — wake up to sunrise over the dunes before breaking camp and setting off through the desert’s most majestic landscapes. This walk is unhurried, designed for those who want to soak in the scenery without rush.
The route passes through small dunes toward Lebour, where you stop for lunch and a well-earned rest. From Lebour, the final stretch carries you back on foot to M’Hamid, completing a full loop through one of Morocco’s most unspoiled desert corridors. Where the Road Ends and the Desert Begins
M’Hamid El Ghizlane sits at the very end of the Draa Valley, where the paved road dissolves into open desert. It is one of the last Saharan villages before the great dune fields begin — and the ideal starting point for any serious desert trek in Morocco. Unlike the busier tourist circuits further north, the desert around M’Hamid remains raw, quiet, and largely undiscovered.
The landscape here is defined by wind-sculpted dunes, dried riverbeds, scattered palm groves, and a sense of space that is difficult to find anywhere else in North Africa.
